Installing D3

The underlying UNIX operating system must be installed before installing D3. Additional notes for modifying this installation for a turnkey system are located in the Creating a Turnkey System section of the D3  Linux System Administration Guide. Once the system is installed, it must also be activated as outlined in Product Activation.

The instructions detailing a new D3 installation are included in these sections:

Loading the D3 Package

D3 Installation Options

Installing D3 With the Chosen Settings

Starting the D3 Virtual Machine

Restarting the Virtual Machine

How to Proceed

WARNING

Beginning with release 7.4, the frame size changed from 2 KB to 4 KB. You must perform a file-save before installing D3 because you need to do a restore-accounts (f2000 and cannot upgrade with data files in place if you are upgrading from a system prior to release 7.4.

For additional information, see Migration Tips.

NOTE

Be sure to set the appropriate term-type prior to installing D3 Linux.

For Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 implementations, changing the window to a non-standard size on some telnet emulators may result in abnormal behavior.
