To install D3 with the chosen settings:
If not done previously, insert a scratch tape or floppy into each unused drive. Drive detection takes place for the configuration file.

Do not place a CD in the CD-ROM drive. |
Select the Install D3 with current settings option from the D3 Installation menu.
The system displays the tape devices currently installed as shown in this example.
drive: /dev/fd0H1440 - 3.5 inch floppy added. drive: /dev/fd0H720 - 3.5 inch floppy added. SCT tape added. /dev/nst0 Linking monitor ...... completed. |
When the installation completes, the following message displays.
D3 Database Management System is installed |
Remove all tape and floppy media that were inserted previously.
The D3 package is now installed. The system returns to the shell prompt.
NOTE |
In the case of an installation error, an error message should display. See Installation Troubleshooting for more information. |
Reboot UNIX from the shell prompt. Enter:
reboot |
The system displays shutdown information.
If you are completing a new installation or an upgrade with a file-save tape, proceed to the next section, Starting the D3 Virtual Machine.
If a previous D3 system was loaded, this prompt may display:
Enter y.
