This section provides information on D3 licensing and how to activate D3 after it is installed on the system.

Licensing D3
D3 Product licensing is managed with licensing pools, which enables you to configure a custom system.

You must complete the steps in Activating D3 for each pool required.
Activating D3 is the last step of the installation process. The product activation procedure is used to activate your system, to increase the number of licensed users on the system, and to use additional D3 features.
To activate D3 execute these steps:
Log on with user-ID dm and master dictionary entry dm.
Enter your user id: dm master dictionary: dm :_ |
As shown above, the colon (:) is a D3 prompt that indicates the user is at the Terminal Control Language (TCL) prompt.
At the D3 TCL prompt, enter:
activate |
Enter <CTRL>x at any time to quit the activation screen.
The copyright information displays, followed by a copyright infringement warning and an agreement clause:
: Do you agree with the above and accept the terms and conditions of the Rocket Software License Agreement enclosed with your D3 distribution media. [Yes/No/View/Print/Quit] ? |
Carefully read the information displayed.
To view the entire end-user license agreement, enter view.
To print the entire end-user license agreement to the currently assigned system printer, enter print.
When satisfied with the agreement, enter yes to continue.
If this is a new installation, the system displays:
You do not currently have a System Identification # registered on this system. One is provided to you when you purchase the D3 DBMS. If you have it you may enter it now. If you do not have one or do not enter it now you will only be activated for a TWO week period. Enter System ID or press Q to quit System ID #_ |
Enter the System ID Number provided by Rocket. This number is located on the colored sheet of paper in the D3 package.
The following message displays:
Do one of the following: - To perform a manual activation, press Enter. - To perform an automatic activation, enter the email address registered for the specified system id:xxxxxxxx. Your computer must be connected to the internet to use this option. Email Address: |

A 32 character alphanumeric string. It displays on the terminal when the activation program executes. |
Make note of these numbers from the activation screen in the space below; Customer Service will ask for them when calling for the activation number.

Activation numbers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To obtain an activation number, call Rocket Customer Service at (949)-585-9400 or go to the Rocket Web Site:
Enter the activation codes provided by Rocket.
If the activation number is not accepted, this message displays:
Error: invalid set of numbers, please try again! |
When the activation code is accepted, a similar screen displays:

Verify that all appropriate features are available and that the number of licensed users agrees with the license that was purchased.
If not, call Rocket Customer Service to verify the activation.
NOTE |
The activation process shown above must be completed once for each separate licensing pool you are activating. You are prompted to enter the next activation or to exit the process.

To verify the system's activations and its set of licensed pools, enter the maxusers and sysid commands.
The activation process is complete.
If you need to deactivate D3, complete the instructions below. To deactivate, you must have a live connection to the internet.
To deactivate D3:
Log on with user-ID dm and master dictionary entry dm.
At the D3 TCL prompt, enter:
activate (d |
The copyright information displays.
Enter yes to continue.
A message displays prompting you for your email address.
Type your email address and press ENTER to continue.
Your system is deactivated and the message Deactivation Successful displays.
