The mvBase Workstation is a provider and manager for three types of mvBase clients:
Clients that connect to mvBase via COM ports
Terminal devices
Serial printers
Windows printers configured for use with mvBase
Telnet clients that connect to mvBase via an mvTelnet Server
NOTE |
|
Configure these above client types via the Workstation tab of the Administration Utility. Once you define one or more such clients for use with mvBase, you start the Workstation, connect that Workstation to the mvBase Server, and clients then connect to the Server via the Workstation (or in the case of Windows printers or serial printers connected to COM ports, they become accessible within the MultiValue environment).
NOTE |
If you do not need to connect any of the above client types to the mvBase Server, then you do not need to configure or start the mvBase Workstation. |
This section describes the procedures related to operating (starting, connecting and stopping) the mvBase Workstation via the Workstation tab of the Administration Utility. This section does not address the configuration of clients that are managed by the mvBase Workstation.
For complete information about configuring COM ports via the Workstation tab, see Configuring and Using COM Ports.
For complete information about configuring printers for use with mvBase, see Configuring and Using mvBase Printers.
For complete information about configuring mvTelnet Servers and general information about connecting Telnet clients to mvBase, see Configuring and Using the mvTelnet Server.
