When installing D3 Windows for the first or upgrading, you are asked to select between these two types of installations:
Typical |
Installs the VME and FSI Server. When installed, the D3 VME is set to start manually or automatically when Windows is restarted. NOTE—Typical installation installs both the VME and FSI and is recommended if using the FSI Server. |
Custom |
Installs either the VME Server or FSI Server. If the FSI Server is installed, the D3 FSI is set to start manually or automatically when Windows is restarted. |
Depending on the type of installation (Typical or Custom), the D3 VME and/or D3 FSI is either started automatically or manually when Windows is restarted.
Starting the FSI Server
For Typical and Custom installations, follow these instructions to start the FSI Server.
To start the FSI Server:
Go to Windows Services.
The Services dialog box displays.
Do one of the following:
For Typical installation (recommended):
Select D3 VME, then click the Start Service icon. Both the VME and FSI Servers are now started.
For Custom installation:
Select D3 FSI, then click Start Service icon.
This starts the D3 FSI Server.
Select D3 VME, then click the Start Service icon.
This starts the D3 VME Server.
(Optional) Change Startup Type options from the Service dialog box as displayed below. See D3 Windows Installation Guide.
Stopping the FSI Server
For Typical and Custom installations, follow these instructions to stop the FSI Server.
To stop the FSI Server:
Go to Windows Services.
Do one of the following:
For Typical installation (recommended):
Select D3 VME, then click the Stop Service icon. This stops the VME and FSI Servers.
For Custom installation:
Select D3 FSI, then click the Stop Service icon.
This stops the D3 FSI Server.
Select D3 Virtual Machine, then click the Stop Service icon.
This stops the D3 Virtual Machine.
