FSI on D3 Windows

NOTE

All D3 ACCESS commands are supported.

Unlike on D3 UNIX platforms, the FSI and VME on D3 Windows can be installed either together or separately. It is recommended that you have both the VME and the FSI installed on your system. The VME, which acts as the front-end to the FSI, is required to log on to the FSI. Additionally, the FSI Server is required, because each D3 file server must have an FSI process started in order to access the D3 tables.

Before you begin working with the FSI, verify that:

For example, if you selected a Typical installation, verify that your D3 VME is started in Windows Services (see Starting and Stopping the FSI Server).

NOTE

  • If you selected the Typical D3 Windows installation, start the D3 Virtual Machine in Windows Services to start both the VME Server and the FSI Server.

  • If you selected the Custom D3 Windows installation, start both the D3 Virtual Machine and the D3 FSI. The D3 VME must be started in order to log on to or use the FSI.

NOTE

For detailed installation instructions, see the D3 Windows Installation Guide.
