OSFI

Use the OSFI tab to specify the OSFI port, host and whether to start the OSFI server automatically.

Complete the following instructions to update your OSFI settings.

Procedure

  1. Open the D3 Device Manager and select the OSFI tab.
  2. Perform any changes you want to make. The table below describes the various configuration values of the OSFI tab.
    Value Description
OSFI Port OSFI port number. The default is 1598.

Note that the port can only be specified when the Host Name value is explicitly specified. If no Host Name value is explicitly specified, then the port is read from dict fsidm, hosts, localhost, (see the Host Name description below).

Note: A port other than 1598 should be used If you are already using port 1598 with OSFI servers in the VME.
Host Name OSFI host name or IP address to bind to if multiple network adapters are present.
    • If the host name is not specified, then it is read from dict fsidm, hosts, localhost, and the host name and port number in the item to which localhost points are used.

    • If the Host Name is specified, then the given name and port are used without reading dict fsidm, hosts,.

Warning: Although the FSI OSFI server is a separate server to the VME OSFI servers, they do share the HOSTS entries. As such, when an update is made to the hosts file in the DM account within the VME using either network-setup, the editor or the update processor, the entry is duplicated to the hosts file in the FSIDM account. As a result, if you change an entry in the FSIDM,HOSTS, file and then change the same entry in the VME version of the file, your change in the FSIDM,HOSTS, file will be lost and overwritten with the version of the VME HOSTS file.
Remote Host Specifies the TCP host/IP address of an MDS server to use for account resolution.

If not specified (default), the local FSI MDS server is used.

Start OSFI Server (Automatically) Specifies to automatically start the OSFI server.
  3. Click Update.

    Your OSFI settings are updated.
