Configuring Hot Backup

There are several steps required to configure a Hot Backup implementation.

  1. Configuring the primary server
    In order to run Hot Backup, the primary server must be defined. The fsihotbackup utility is used for this purpose and can be run from the dm or another account.
  2. Configuring the database
    The database accounts and files to be backed up with a Hot Backup configuration must be specified.
  3. Synchronizing the servers
    Before running Hot Backup, you must synchronize the primary and secondary servers.
  4. Configuring the secondary server
    The secondary server must be defined. The fsihotbackup utility is used for this purpose and can be run from the dm or another account.
  5. Starting the secondary server and enabling logging on the primary server
    Use the fs command to load a configuration and start the secondary server and then employ the fhb-flags command to enable logging on the primary server.
  6. Setting up throughput measurement
    The fhb_S_Timer and fhb_S_Timer_enqueue commands are available for recording and reporting throughput measurements of your FSI Hot Backup system.
