Choosing a Terminal Emulation Mode

The Emulation tab of the Terminal Properties property sheet allows the mvTerm client to emulate a computer terminal in order to display information received from the Server. The appropriate emulation mode must be defined so information is displayed correctly.

You may need to perform steps 5-7 of this procedure to register your other settings and connect the mvTerm session to the Server, then return to the Emulation tab to complete this setting. Once your mvTerm client session is connected to an mvBase Server, type TERM at the TCL prompt, then press ENTER and record the system response.

Your configuration of the Emulation tab (in the Terminal Properties property sheet) depends on the system response to the TERM command.

NOTE

You can use the TERM command to view or change the terminal properties of a client logged on to an mvBase Server. An mvTerm session’s terminal type, page depth, and page width should match these properties defined in the MultiValue environment using the TERM command. To learn how to use the TERM command to change these properties, see the section titled Using User Accounts and Commands in the mvBase Guide to Files and Accounts.
