Creating new accounts and creating new user logon IDs are two tasks that the system administrator will regularly perform whenever new mvBase accounts are needed and new users are added to the system.
The system administrator is responsible for setting up adequate security protection for each account at the time it is created. Accordingly, part of the process of creating an account is assigning an account password that controls access to the account, and setting retrieval and update codes for the account. Retrieval and update codes control who can access and make changes to data in files. All security matters are described in detail in the mvBase Operation and Administration Guide, mvBase System Security topic. This section describes the procedures for creating new accounts and adding new user-IDs. It first describes how to create a user account using the CREATE-ACCOUNT command and then goes on to describe how to create new user-ID items in the SYSTEM Dictionary. Later sections describe how to make changes to an account once it has been created and how to delete accounts and user-IDs when they are no longer needed.
