An account is essentially a Master Dictionary that gives users access to system commands and files. Each mvBase system has multiple accounts, perhaps set up for various departments, that access the system. A number of different users may all share the same account.
In order to log on directly to an account, users must know the account’s logon name and its password, if one has been assigned to protect the account from unauthorized use. For example, there might be an account called STAFF to which every member of a personnel department can log. However, each user may have a unique user-ID and password that he or she uses to log on to the STAFF account. In such cases it is not necessary to know the account’s name and password in order to log on.
