Terminal Emulation vs. Terminal Emulator

mvTerm supports two terminal types: ADDS Viewpoint and IBM PC Console. These correspond to the mvBase termtype settings of TERM V and TERM I. Neither of these dumb terminals supported mouse information. The selection of the terminal emulator product type for WHERE is independent of the setting of the mvTerm terminal emulation.

For example, a terminal emulation of ADDS Viewpoint can be selected with a ViaDuct terminal emulator product type for WHERE.

When the user selects one of the terminal emulator products for WHERE, internal mvTerm parameters are automatically setup. These allow the mvTerm session to recognize and produce the defined character sequences that are handled programmatically for the selected terminal emulator product.

Radio button controls have be added to allow the user to select the terminal emulator product type. Selections include the mouse handling method that existed in earlier mvBase releases (mvBase selection), the three supported terminal emulator products, and None for no mouse click handling. The default is the mvBase selection.
