Screen Size

Screen Size Information in Status Bar

To aid the user in knowing the dimensions of the active mvTerm session’s window, a new status bar pane has been provided containing the screen size parameters of the number of rows and columns. Whenever the size of the active mvTerm session’s window changes or a different mvTerm session becomes active, the status bar pane is updated to display the current row and column dimensions of the mvTerm session’s window.

Adjusting Screen Size

The screen size parameters of the number of rows and columns get adjusted when the dimensions of the mvTerm window get adjusted. Changes in window dimensions occur when the Page Depth or Page Width edit field is changed in the Page Size property page, when the user clicks on the Restore or Maximize entries in the System menu, when the user drags the window border by clicking on the border with the left mouse button and dragging the border with the left mouse button held down, or when the user selects another mvTerm session to be active by selecting a session entry in the Window menu or by pressing Ctrl+F6 on the keyboard to activate the next session.

Each mvTerm session keeps a record of its current screen size parameters. Whenever the user selects a different mvTerm session to become active, the mvTerm window is automatically resized to the size of the saved away screen size parameters when the session becomes activated.

The screen size parameter of the number of rows always gets adjusted when the dimensions of the mvTerm window changes. When the number of rows changes, the screen buffer is automatically reconfigured with the same number of back pages and with the new setting of the number of rows using the same mechanism as described in the Dynamic Reconfiguring of Back Pages topic. The screen size parameter of the number of columns only gets adjusted when the Page Width edit field in the Page Size property page gets changed.

When the mvTerm Client window is not maximized, any adjustments to the mvTerm window dimensions by dragging the window border or by selecting the Restore or Maximize entries in the System menu does not change either screen size parameter (number of rows or columns).
