There are two basic forms of security in MVSP: Account and User.
In order to use MVSP in an account, that account must first be enabled.

In the MVSP account, open the MVSP MAINTENANCE menu by entering the MVSP.MENU command from TCL. For example:

Do any of the following:
To display a list of enabled accounts, select option 1.
To enable a new account, select option 2 and respond appropriately to the ensuing prompts.
To disable an account, select option 3 and respond appropriately to the ensuing prompts.
A user has to be enabled to be able to use the server.
For D3 systems, this is the user as defined in the D3 users file.
For mvBase systems, the server component of MVSP has its own users file since mvBase does not employ the concept of users.
In the MVSP account, open the MVSP MAINTENANCE menu by entering the MVSP.MENU command from TCL. For example:

Do any of the following:
To display a list of enabled users, select option 1.
To enable a new user, select option 2 and respond appropriately to the ensuing prompts.

(mvBase Only) Since the concept of users does not pertain to mvBase, mvBase users will be prompted to create the user and provide a password for the user. |
To disable a user, select option 3 and respond appropriately to the ensuing prompts.
NOTE |
(mvBase Only) Since the concept of users does not pertain to mvBase, mvBase users will be asked whether you want to delete the user being disabled. Type Y if you want to delete the user. |
Complete these instructions to change the MVSP user or account password on D3.

Use the password program to set the user and account passwords.
In the MVSP account, open the MVSP PASSWORD utility by entering the MVSP.PASSWORD command from TCL. For example:

The MVSP PASSWORD utility displays. Note that this message will vary slightly from the illustration below if you are running in Windows Authentication mode.

Do one of the following:
Enter A to change the MVSP account password.
The following prompt displays.
Enter the password for the MVSP Account (QUIT to abort) ? |
Enter U to change the MVSP user password.

Enter the NEW password for the MVSP user (QUIT to abort) ? |
Do one of the following:
If you are running in Windows Authentication mode, type and confirm the password for the Windows MVSP user or account.
If you are running under a D3 MVSP user, type and confirm the password for the D3 MVSP user or account.
The password is changed.
