Troubleshooting installation errors

If an error occurs during the installation process, a message displays indicating an error number.

For example:

Failed to install. Error (#).

Depending on the Windows operating system running on your computer, there are different types of installation errors that can occur. These installation errors are:.

Error (#) Description Try this
-1 Unable to determine the path to the OpenDB executable.
  • Check that another copy of OpenDB is not started as a service.

  • Delete the copy of OpenDB.exe on your computer and then extract the OpenDB .zip file to that directory again.

  • Verify that the size of the file (OpenDB.exe) in the OpenDB.zip file provided by your Rocket Support representative is the same as the one extracted to your computer’s hard drive.

-2 Unable to establish a connection to the Service Control Manager.
  • Check that you have administrator privileges.

  • Restart the computer.

-3 Unable to add service. Check that another copy of OpenDB is not already installed on your computer by inspecting the Services folder in the registry.
  • If the OpenDB key is found in the registry, then OpenDB is already installed.

  • If OpenDB key is not found in the registry, then delete the copy of OpenDB.exe on your computer, and then extract the OpenDB .zip file to that directory again and reinstall.
