Installation troubleshooting

Review this information if you encounter any issues during installation.

Issue Resolution
Unable to determine operating system.

or

Unable to locate OS specific setup.exe.
The setup failed because the software is being installed on an unsupported operating system or the folder containing the files to be copied could not be located.
  1. Compare your operating system with the requirements specified in ODBC client software installation.

  2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder on the CD (\\ODBC) containing the client software.

  3. Open the folder and double-click the setup icon. (The icon will be labelled setup.exe or setup, depending on your Windows Explorer settings.)

The setup routines for the D3 ODBC driver could not be loaded. The setup may fail if the machine has not been rebooted prior to installation or if the software is being installed on an unsupported operating system.
  1. Compare your operating system with the requirements specified in ODBC client software installation.

  2. Reboot the machine to ensure a clean installation environment.

Name resolution failed. errno: 1002 (client) Unable to translate host name into valid network address. Either the host name is invalid or the name-to-host address translation is non-functional.
  1. Check the host name.

  2. Check the translation setup by logging in to the server machine via the telnet application on Windows, specifying the same host name.

If this fails, the network is not set up properly. Refer to the Microsoft Windows documentation for more information. It may be necessary to set up a domain name server for proper name translation.
An error occurred while copying Ctl3d32.dll. An ODBC connection is open.
  • Close all applications and re-boot the machine.

The IP address of the server cannot be resolved (client). The server TCP/IP address cannot be resolved. When referencing a server, the server must be defined either through a DNS (domain name server) or via a host file. Refer to the Microsoft Windows documentation for instructions.
No connection can be established (server). The client cannot connect to the server machine. This is generally due to incorrect parameters regarding the server address, user name, user password, account, or account password. Neither the user nor the account macros/procs are executed when connecting via ODBC.
  • Check the parameters and verify that the ODBC server is started.
