The mvBase Platform

To achieve network capabilities and functions on Windows, the mvBase platform consists of three components, all of which conform to the Windows conventions and standards:

  1. mvBase Server, the location of the MultiValue database application

  2. mvBase Workstation, a configurable client provider and manager

  3. mvBase clients, most of which are managed through the mvBase Workstation, except mvTerm.

Peripherals such as backup tape devices, remote floppy drives and printers are easily included in the mvBase environment. These components distribute various aspects of mvBase functionality across a Windows network environment, as the image below illustrates.
