Merging MultiValue and Windows Environments

The MultiValue database brings with it a complete security system for managing system users.

When the mvBase installation is incorporated into a network environment where network clients connect to the mvBase environment, these network clients are first validated through the host Windows operating system security system. After verification, they are then connected to the mvBase operating environment and validated by the information presented to mvBase.

Where the installation of mvBase involves and incorporates the sole use of serially connected character terminals, the Windows security system is not invoked.

Security is discussed in greater detail in the mvBase System Security section.
