The mvBase Terminal Emulator (mvTerm) has these major components:
The mvTerm Menu Bar
The mvTerm Toolbar
The mvTerm Status Bar
mvTerm Menu Bar
The menu bar for the mvTerm client displays the computer name of the client system, and the line by which the client is attached to the mvBase Server (or the Disconnected status). The menu bar includes these default menus. Context sensitive help is available for these menus and their contents from within the mvTerm client.
Session Menu |
Use this menu to access commands for opening and saving session configuration files, commands for connect or disconnect, and commands for defining session properties. |
Edit Menu |
Use this menu to access commands for opening and saving session configuration files, commands for connect or disconnect, and commands for defining session properties. |
View Menu |
Use this menu to access commands for viewing or hiding the mvTerm Toolbar and Status bar. |
Options Menu |
Use this menu to access an option which is used to preserve key lock options within the mvTerm client. This option preserves key lock settings when you switch to another application, then return to the mvTerm session. |
Windows Menu |
Use this menu to access options for displaying multiple session windows. Window display options are typical to those of other Windows-based applications. |
Help Menu |
Use this menu to access and activate the mvTerm Help System. |
mvTerm Toolbar
The mvTerm toolbar displays across the top of the application window below the menu bar. The toolbar provides quick mouse access to many tools used in mvTerm.
To display or hide the Toolbar, select Toolbar from the View menu (ALT+V, T). Context sensitive help is also available for these icons from within the mvTerm client.
New Terminal Session Icon |
Use this icon to create a new terminal session in the mvBase Terminal Emulator (mvTerm). |

Open Session Icon |
Use this icon to open an existing terminal session. mvTerm displays the Open dialog box, in which you can create a new session using the properties (including the server, line number, caret, emulation, function key definitions, mouse button definitions, page width, page depth, and font) stored in an existing configuration file. |

Save Session Icon |
Use this icon to save the properties of the active mvTerm session in a configuration file. mvTerm displays the Save As dialog box for selecting the path and name of the configuration file. |

Connect mvTerm Icon |
Use the Connect icon to connect the active mvTerm session to an mvBase Server. Specify a line number to which to connect, or enter an asterisk (*) to connect to the next available line. (A negative one (-1) can also be entered for the next available line.) |

Disconnect mvTerm Icon |
Use this icon to disconnect the active mvTerm session from its mvBase Server. Log off from the mvBase Server system prior to disconnecting the mvTerm client. Disconnect the mvTerm client prior to exiting (closing) the mvTerm client. |

View Properties Icon |
Use this icon to display or change the properties (such as caret, emulation, function key definition, mouse definition, page width, and page depth) that determine the manner in which data is displayed. |

Format Terminal Font Icon |
Use this icon to formats font within the current mvTerm session. |
|
Copy Icon |
Use this icon to copy selected text from an mvTerm session to the Windows Clipboard. |

Paste Icon |
Use this icon to paste text from the Windows Clipboard to an mvTerm session. |

Scroll to Previous Page Icon |
Select this icon to move back exactly one page from your currently displayed position. This icon appears inactive (gray) if you have no back pages defined. You can also press the Page Up key on your keyboard (if you have not previously defined a special function for this key in the mvTerm Function Key Editor). |

Scroll to Next Page Icon |
Select this icon to move forward exactly one page from your currently displayed position. This icon appears inactive (gray) if you have no back pages defined. You can also press the Page Down key on your keyboard (if you have not previously defined a special function for this key in the mvTerm Function Key Editor). |

Scroll to Last Back Page Icon |
Select this icon to move to the very beginning of the mvTerm screen buffer. This icon appears inactive (gray) if you have no back pages defined. You can also press the Ctrl+Home keys on your keyboard (if you have not previously defined a special function for this key combination in the mvTerm Function Key Editor). |

Scroll to Current Page Icon |
Select this icon to scroll to the current page. This icon appears inactive (gray) if you have no back pages defined. You can also press the Ctrl+End keys on your keyboard (if you have not previously defined a special function for this key combination in the mvTerm Function Key Editor). |

Clear Screen Icon |
Select this icon to clear all information in the mvTerm screen buffer and to position the cursor at the upper left corner of the screen. If you have more than one page defined for the mvTerm screen buffer, this command removes all contents of the current and the back pages. |

Help System Icon |
Use this icon to access the mvTerm Client Help System. |
|
Context-sensitive Help Icon |
Use this icon to activates context-sensitive help. Select this icon, then select the component you wish to be explained. |
mvTerm Status Bar
The Status bar describes the action to be executed by the selected menu option or depressed toolbar button, and displays the state of keyboard lock keys. To display or hide the status bar, choose Status Bar from the View menu.
The Status bar displays at the bottom of the mvBase Terminal Emulator (mvTerm) session window. The left area of the status bar describes actions of the highlighted menu items as accelerator keys or the mouse cursor is used to navigate through the menus. Similarly, this area displays messages that describe the actions of toolbar buttons anytime the mouse cursor is over the toolbar button.
The right area of the status bar contains the following indicators (corresponding left-to-right to the image above):
Aux Print ON/OFF |
Check this field for the status of the aux printer option (whether or not the current session is an aux printer connection). |
1/2 |
Indicates the page you are viewing over the total number of pages you have configured for the mvTerm screen buffer. |
80x25 |
Indicates the row x column screen size parameters to aid you in knowing the dimensions of the screen. |
CAP |
Check this field to see whether or not the Caps Lock key is active. |
NUM |
Check this field to see whether or not the Num Lock key is active. |
SCRL |
Check this field to see whether or not the Scroll Lock key is active. |
