Optimizing Disk Drives Containing Virtual Memory Storage Files

This section contains some recommendations which pertain to disk drive optimization and defragmentation.

Rocket highly recommends optimizing the hard disk drive(s) prior to installation, particularly those disk drives on which the mvBase virtual memory storage files will be located. Consider these general factors when optimizing disk drives prior to installation:

Virtual memory storage files will not suffer any fragmentation if they have been created on an optimized disk drive or disk drives. If virtual memory storage files are created on a fragmented disk drive or disk drives, the files will not suffer any fragmentation once such disk drive or disk drives are optimized.

If optimization is required of disk drives on which virtual memory storage files currently reside, Rocket strongly recommends that optimization be performed with the mvBase Server shut down.
