File permissions

Because FCService needs access to certain files on the system, the following file permissions are recommended:

  • Read, write, and execute permission to the directories containing the fcsocketserver and FCService files.

  • Read permission to the flashconnect.conf file (users must also have write permission to manually update this file).

  • Execute permission to the FCService application file.

  • Read, write, and delete permission to the /tmp directory for creating named pipes in /tmp.

File Permission Alternatives

  • Specify another file name for the configuration file (/etc/flashconnect.conf) when FCService is started.

  • If write access to the /etc and /usr/bin directories is not available, specify alternative directories during the installation. See the FlashConnect Administrator’s Guide for more information about flashconnect.conf file options.

Note: There are no alternatives for read, write, and delete permissions to the /tmp directory.
