Selecting the MDS Server Name

By default, the File Manager uses the MDS server name called MDS, which holds the default file system. If there is an alternative D3 file system on the network, or if you want to reach a file system in another domain, the MDS Server Name must be changed.

The current MDS Server name is displayed in the title bar of the File Manager window.

To select the MDS Server Name:

  1. Select MDS Server Name from the Servers menu.

The MDS Server Name Selection dialog box displays.

  2. Click Browse to search for all available servers on the network.

    TIP

You can also type the name you assigned to the MDS Server in text box, then click OK. Note that this is not the network name of the computer where the root of the file system resides. It is the name displayed in the MDS Server Name text box of the D3 Settings tab (in the D3 Device Manager).

The Select Server dialog box displays.

  3. Click the Search button from the Domains section and select the appropriate domain from the list of domains that displays.

  4. Click the Search button from the Server section and select the appropriate server from the list of servers that displays. Select the Servers check box to display only those servers where D3 is installed and currently active.

  5. Click OK and then click OK again.

The MDS Server Name is selected.
