The D3 VME service is a multithreaded server that supports:
Connected directly to a Windows Server, either directly or through modems. A maximum of 255 workstations can be connected to a Windows Server.
C++ and Visual Basic objects using Remote Procedure Calls (RPC) remote execution
The VME accesses files and accounts that are managed by the D3 File System.
Although client workstations can be anywhere on the network, the VME runs on a centralized system. For example, the clients may be connected through Telnet. There can be any number of VME servers on a domain. They do not cooperate closely, even though they can share D3 files.
Once logged on to the VME, the TCL prompt displays. Run any ASCII application using the workstation emulation provided with the Telnet client.
