Synchronizing the Servers

Before running Hot Backup, you must synchronize the primary and secondary servers.

To synchronize the servers:

Perform a full file-save on the primary server.
Load the save onto the secondary server using d3vme/fileload (from the D3Programs directory).
Set the machine name for the secondary server. To accomplish this, first run the following command:

NT_NAME (N

This returns the machine name. Now edit the following records, placing the machine name returned above into attribute 1:

FSI:MDS,, COMPUTERNAME

FSIDM,SERVERS, DEFAULTVME

The servers are synchronized.

NOTE	If the user-coldstart contains primary-server-specific instructions (for example, fhb-on (a to enable enqueueing), remove it from the secondary server's user-coldstart. Ensure that printer and tape devices are set up identically (or at least compatibly) on both servers.
