Customized files which reside in the dm account must be restored in order to retain certain tailored system characteristics.
The following instructions for restoring customized files are generic. The actual messages that display differ from installation to installation, so the message dialogue is omitted. These instructions describe the method of restoring the most common files. Proceed with this process only if you are familiar with the content of these data files and are certain that part or all of the content of the default files can be overwritten.
To select the proper tape device:
Insert the file-save tape.
Enter:

To restore the user-coldstart macro item for custom startup routines:

To restore without overwriting the bp file for any custom programs in the dm,bp, file:

Use the procedure above to restore the:
users file for user-IDs (dm,users,).
tcl-stack file for users’ TCL stacks (dm,tcl-stack,).
devices file for terminal or printer devices (dm,devices,).
OSFI host definitions file (dm,hosts,).
The following files and items may be selectively restored from the dm account, although they usually are not modified.
fonts file
iomap-file file
kb.pc file
kb.fk file
messages seq items
messages legend items
newac file
PIBs file (may contain location names and term-type information)
When upgrading with a file-save tape, if any table definitions are restored into the sql,tables, file execute the following commands from the SQL account.
sel-restore dict tables catalog_map (o sql-upgrade-table * |
After you have finished restoring files and items selectively, rewind and detach the tape.
To rewind and detach the tape:
If the tape has not been removed, rewind the tape and detach the device. Enter:
t-rew t-det |
Remove the file-save tape from the device.
The D3 files have been loaded.
The user files and accounts have been restored.
