Updating the Sentinel RMS License Manager on Unix and Linux
Use the installation script to update or upgrade an older version of the RMS License Manager and the Cloud Plug-in, or to switch license type from a cloud-served license to a license file or license code (or vice versa).
- Run the installation script.
The script notices that you already have an RMS License Manager installed.
- When prompted, choose what you want to do with this installation:
- Update this installation
- Return the license and uninstall this installation—for details, see Uninstalling Sentinel RMS License Manager on Unix. If you are using a license file, this option will only uninstall the installation.
The installer now detects if you have a cloud-served license or license file in place.
- Choose whether you want to continue using the existing license or configuration file.

—use the existing license or configuration file. This is recommended for an upgrade as no additional license activation will take place.n
—use or generate a new file. Choose this if you are changing the type of license.When switching to a cloud-served license, you are prompted to enter your Entitlement ID and proxy settings, and the license is activated. When switching to a license file, you are prompted to first return your cloud-served license and uninstall the RMS License Manager.
The script now stops the old RMS License Manager and Cloud Plug-in and then copies the new files.
- When prompted, choose whether you want to start the service. Select yes (
y
) to start the RMS License Manager and Cloud Plug-in, or no (n
