Starting the Master Server

Complete these instructions to start the master server.

Warning: Although safeguards exist to avoid such a situation, it is very important that a master server is not started when there is a master server already running. This can lead to corruption of the transaction queue. Use the test in Testing the servers to verify whether or not the process is already running. If you have any doubts, contact Rocket Customer Support for further assistance.

Procedure

Log on to the dm account on the master server.
At TCL, enter:
```
hot-backup
```
If multiple servers are defined, select the server to start, then press ENTER.
The Hot Backup Main Menu displays.
Select the Start Server option.
Select Yes when prompted for confirmation.
The master server process starts.
