Using the BlueZone License Manager

License Manager Options

BlueZone License Manager has several key options that are designed to enhance the product.

Listen Port Option

This option allows you to change the default TCP Listening Port from 8421 to any valid TCP Port you desire.  For example, you may wish to change the TCP Port to port 80.

TIP  Being able to change the listening port to port 80 is especially useful when your remote End Users are located behind a Firewall at their location.  Very often, when this is the case, port 8421 is closed at the remote location which results in the remote End Users not being able to contact the License Manager.  By switching to port 80 (the normal HTTP Port), the License Manager messages will pass through the Firewall just as if it was normal HTTP web traffic.

There are two steps required to change the Listening Port.

To change the Listening Port:
  1. Go to Options:Listen Port on the License Manager MenuBar.  This will bring up the Listening Port Dialog.

  2. Enter the desired port number.

  3. Click the OK button.

NOTE  The License Manager will have to be stopped and restarted in order for this change to take effect.

Update your BlueZone Emulation Clients as follows:

  1. Access the License Tab of your BlueZone Emulation Client.  See BlueZone Client Configuration

  2. Add the IP Address of the License Manager along with the TCP Port that the License Manager is now listening on.  If you changed your Listening Port to port 80, add in the IP Address of the License Manager followed by ,80.

Example: 63.75.199.234,80

CAUTION!  Do not use a colon ( : ) between the IP Address and the Port number.  You must use a coma as shown above.

  1. Remove the old IP Address (without the port number).

Listen Address Option

This options allows you to change the IP Address and listening port pair from the default.  This option is only needed if the server that License Manager is running on is multi-homed (more than one network card) server.

Example: Let's say your License Manager server has two NIC cards, one for Internet and one for Intranet connections.  When you purchased your Concurrent User License, you were asked by your BlueZone Software Account Executive to supply an IP Address of the server that License Manager will be running on.  If you used the IP Address that connects to the Internet, your external users will be able to get licenses just fine.

However, if you also want to be able to license your internal Intranet users, using your internal IP Address, you will have to add this internal IP Address using the Address Option.

To add an IP Address:

  1. Go to Options:Addresses on the License Manager MenuBar.  This will bring up the LIP Address List dialog.

  2. Enter the desired IP Address in the Add IP Address edit box and click the Add button.

  3. After all the desired IP Addresses are entered, click the OK button.
