Administering BlueZone

Chapter 6

Installing BlueZone from a Network Server

The Distribution Image can also be used to distribute BlueZone over a network connection.  This is accomplished by placing the BlueZone Distribution Image in a folder that is accessible by your End Users.

As long as the End Users can browse the Network Neighborhood to the folder that contains the BlueZone Distribution Image, BlueZone can be installed over the network.

CAUTION!  Do not use the Network Installation setup feature to distribute BlueZone from a network server.  The Network Installation does not install any files on the end user’s system, but loads the files over the network when BlueZone is launched.

SEE  Creating a Shared Network Installation section of this chapter for more information.

To install BlueZone from a network server:

  1. Distribute (perhaps via email) the server name, drive, and Distribution Image Directory name to users.

  2. Have users Browse to the Distribution Image Directory and run SETUP.EXE.

  3. The user can enter Setup information during the course of the installation, or it can be pre-configured with SETUP.INI.

  4. The BlueZone Setup program installs BlueZone on the End User’s system in a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the speed of the network.
