Using Session Manager

Using Registry Mode

It is important to understand that Registry Mode works differently from Profile Mode.  File Mode is set by your BlueZone Administrator.

How to tell what File Mode you are using

Check the Session Manager StatusBar.  In Profile Mode, Session Manager displays a diskette icon .  In Registry Mode Session Manager displays a registry icon .  The following example shows Session Manager in Registry Mode:

Registry Mode

In Registry Mode, your BlueZone configuration settings are saved to the Windows registry by session type and session number.  This is important to understand so that you will not be confused when you launch previously saved BlueZone sessions.

Example: Create a new Mainframe Display session, create one connection called "Host A".  Make sure the Use Connection Name as Session Description checkbox is checked.  Note the session number, S1, S2, etc.  Exit the session and save it.

When this session is saved, if it was S1, it will be saved to the S1 registry location.  When this session is launched from the Session Manager icon, it will always be S1.

Let's say that you now have three Mainframe Display sessions configured and saved.  Host A - S1, Host B - S2 and Host C - S3.  If you launch Host B - S2, from the Session Manager icon, then launch a Mainframe Display session from S2 by doing a File:Open Session:Mainframe Display, Host A - S1 will launch.

This happens because S1 is the next available non running session.  If you were to launch another Mainframe session from either S1 or S2, session S3 will launch.  If you were to launch another, a new session S4 will launch prompting you to fill in the connection information.
