Web-to-Host Wizard Overview

The Web-to-Host Wizard is a Java Application that provides a GUI configuration tool for BlueZone Administrators to create web pages that are used to launch BlueZone Emulation clients and sessions.  It is used only by the BlueZone Web-to-Host Administrator.

Installing the Web-to-Host Wizard

If you are installing BlueZone Web-to-Host on a Microsoft Web Server, the BlueZone Web-to-Host setup program will automatically install the BlueZone Web-to-Host files on your web server, and also install the Web-to-Host Wizard application.

If you are installing BlueZone Web-to-Host on a non-Microsoft Web Server, you must install the Web-to-Host Wizard separately on a Windows workstation.

Using the Web-to-Host Wizard

To launch the Web-to-Host Wizard, double click the Web-to-Host Wizard icon that was created during the installation process.  The first time you run the Wizard, you will be presented with the main Wizard selection screen.

Web-to-Host Wizard Concepts

The BlueZone Web-to-Host Wizard is used to create Launch Pages.  A Launch Page is a web page that contains the necessary code to launch a completely configured BlueZone emulation client session or sessions.  As the BlueZone Administrator, you have complete control over the content and look of these Launch Pages.  The Wizard provides a customizable "template" that can be tailored to your particular needs.  You can even add your own company logo and other important information to the template.

The Launch Pages that you create, can be configured to launch a single BlueZone session or a dozen sessions.  The Launch Page can be very simple, or it can be configured to use the Launch Pad feature which is used to manage multiple sessions.

In previous versions of BlueZone Web-to-Host, the BlueZone Administrator had to manually edit and/or create the web pages that launch BlueZone manually.

It is possible, and may even be preferred by some Customers, to continue to manually edit and create their own BlueZone Web-to-Host pages, and not use the Web-to-Host Wizard.

How the Wizard Works

When you create an new Launch Page, the Web-to-Host Wizard actually creates a folder in the root of the Web-to-Host installation.

For example, if BlueZone Web-to-Host is installed in

C:\inetpub\wwwroot\bzw2h

the Wizard creates the new folder (Test Page) after bzw2h, as shown here

C:\inetpub\wwwroot\bzw2h\Test_Page

In that folder, the Wizard copies the files from the "template" folder, and creates two launch pages.  One Launch Page for ActiveX browsers like Internet Explorer and one Launch Page for Java capable browsers like Netscape and Mozilla.

When you click the Publish button, the Wizard uses the values supplied by the BlueZone Administrator, and converts those values to parameters that get written to the Launch Pages.

In the ActiveX Launch Page (launch_x.htm) the Wizard creates an Object Tag which contains all the parameters and values necessary to launch the emulation sessions that are configured in the Wizard.

In the Java Launch Page (launch_j.htm) the Wizard creates an Embed Tag which contains all the parameters and values necessary to launch the emulation sessions that are configured in the Wizard.

Existing Customers

If you are an existing Customer, we highly encourage you to use the new Web-to-Host Wizard.  To use the new Web-to-Host Wizard, simply install the Web-to-Host Wizard by following the installation instructions.  Then, follow the instructions in the section on converting to the new Web-to-Host Wizard.

Exceptions

However, if you already have BlueZone Web-to-Host installed, and you want to upgrade to version 3.3, and you don't want to use the Web-to-Host Wizard, you can manually upgrade your current installation and continue to use it as you are now.
