MVS Toolkit User Guide

The MVS Toolkit is an application that enables users to expose their D3 or mvBase data via Web Services to allow interaction with other applications in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).

This guide provides instructions for creating and managing D3 and mvBase server connections, Web Service Provider connections, Web Services and Web Service Operations, or Resources.

This section provides instructions for opening the MVS Toolkit, and describes the panels, menus, and icons available.
Getting started
These instructions will walk you through the basics for quickly creating new Web Services and Web Service Operations and Resources.
Creating and managing MV server connections
The first step in the process of setting up MV Web Service Operations or Resources is creating a connection to the D3 or mvBase server that contains the data (accounts, files, and subroutines) you want to expose via the Web Service.
Creating and managing MV web service providers
The second step in the process of setting up MV Web Service Operations or Resources is creating a connection to an MV Web Service Provider. An MV Web Service Provider is the HTTP server that will be used to host your Web Services and their operations or resources.
Creating and managing web services
The third step in the process of setting up MV Web Service Operations or Resources is creating the actual Web Service.
Creating and managing web service operations and resources
The final step is creating the operations or resources that will be associated to your Web Service.
Using the informational panel
The Informational panel displays in the bottom-right corner of the application window and contains three tabs: The Properties tab, Cached Services tab, and the Web Server Log tab.
