Install MVS using the console interface

Use these instructions to install the MVS using the console interface.

1. Download the MVS toolkit from the Rocket Customer Portal.
2. Run the installation from the directory where you downloaded the file:

    sh <download.dir>/RocketMVSSetup.<version>.bin -i console

   where <download.dir> is the directory to which the installation files were downloaded and <version> is the version and build number in x.x.x.xxx form.

   You will see an introductory message for the Installation process.

   Note:

   • You can cancel the installation at any time by entering Quit at any prompt in the process.
   • You can go back to previous installation prompts by entering Back from any prompt in the process.
3. Press Enter.

   The END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT opens.

4. Continue to press Enter to scroll and review the license agreement.

   You will see the following message:

    DO YOU ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT? < Y/ N>:

5. Type Y and press Enter to accept the terms of the license agreement.

   The Choose Install Components menu opens.

    Choose Install Components
    -------------------------
    Please choose the Install Set to be installed by this installer.
    ->1- Typical
    2- Customize ...
    ENTER THE NUMBER FOR THE INSTALL SET, OR PRESS <ENTER> TO ACCEPT THE DEFAULT

6. Select the appropriate Install Set option or press Enter to accept the default installation (Typical).
   See Before installing MVS for more information on the available options.

   • If you select the Typical option, the installation process begins.

     When the process completes, select whether or not to review the MVS Release Notes (recommended).

     The MVS Installation is complete.

   • If you select the Custom option, you will see a series of configuration prompts.

     Go to Step 7.

    Choose Product Features

    Please choose the Features to be installed by this installer.

7. Select the components to install.
   Tip:

   • The X associated with each MVS component indicates that the component has been selected for installation (default).
   • To exclude any MVS components from your installation, type the component numbers and press Enter.

     Multiple component numbers must be typed comma-separated.

   • To display a brief description and a list of required configuration values for a specified component, enter ?< ComponentNumber> at the prompt.

     For example: To display information for the Rocket MVS Web Server component, enter ?1.

   You will see a series of configuration prompts.

8. Enter your configuration values by doing one of the following:
   • To accept the default configuration value, press Enter.
   • To enter a new configuration value, type the value and press Enter.

   After all of your configuration settings have been set, the Pre-Installation Summary opens.

9. Review the Pre-Installation Summary and press Enter to accept the installation settings.

   The installation process begins.

10. When the process completes, select whether or not to review the MVS Readme (recommended).
    The MVS Installation is complete. After the installation is complete, the service starts automatically.
