Scheduling the Windows Print Spooler

Because the mvBase Workstation spools print jobs faster than most printers can print, most users will not perceive any decrease in the speed of the print spooler. With very fast printers, you can select an option within the Windows Printers utility that spools print jobs more quickly. Perform these steps to implement this Spooler configuration.

  1. Launch or switch to the Windows Printers utility.

  2. Select (highlight) the desired printer by clicking that printer name once (with the mouse button).

  3. Select File, then Properties, or select Properties from the pop-up menu that displays when you click the printer with the right mouse button (in most default mouse settings).

  4. Select the Scheduling tab.

  5. Select the option labeled Spool documents so that programs finish printing faster.

  6. Select Start printing immediately.

  7. CAUTION

Under no circumstances should you select the option to Print Direct to Device.

  8. Select OK. The Printers utility displays.

  9. Close the Printers utility.
