Printer and Spooler Command Summary

This section briefly summarizes the commands and Procs that are used to affect the operation of a printer, the Spooler, or to report on printer or Spooler status. See the earlier topics in this section for additional information, or see the Guide to mvBase Files and Accounts. These two sections of that guide are of particular relevance:

SYSPROG Commands

The following printer/Spooler commands are available in the SYSPROG account.

SET-TERM

Sets default terminal and printer characteristics.

STARTPTR

Initializes the configuration of a system printer.

:STARTSPOOLER

Reinitializes a stopped printer without a coldstart.

User Account Commands

The following printer/Spooler commands are available in User accounts.

BLOCK-PRINT

Prints block characters on the screen or printer.

DO

Prints a document.

DOC-OUT

Prints a document.

LISTABS

Lists current Spooler assignments.

LISTPEQS

Lists the status of Spooler files.

LISTPTR

Lists the status of available printers.

PRINTRONIX

Sets page length for a Printronix printer.

SET-LPTR

Defines printer page specifications.

SP-ASSIGN

Defines print job output assignments.

SP-EDIT

Edits Spooler hold files.

SP-KILL

Removes printers and print files; terminates print jobs.

SP-OPEN / SP-CLOSE

Makes one print job out of multiple print requests.

SP-STATUS

Lists status of system printers.

SP-TAPEOUT

Transfers a print file from tape to the Spooler.

STOPPTR

Stops a printer.

TERM

Sets and displays terminal and printer characteristics.
