Checking the Status of the Spooler (SP-STATUS)

Use the SP-STATUS command when you want to know:

The SP-STATUS command produces a report that looks like the one shown in the following two examples. The report lists the settings and current status of one parallel printer and five serial printers. Printer 0 is the only printer currently printing a job. The job being printed is entry (element) 1 on the Spooler, which was generated from the account JULIE on process 2. The print file takes up 4 frames. All other printers are inactive.

The following display is the first page of a sample SP-STATUS report:

THE SPOOLER IS ACTIVE.

PRINTER #0 IS SERIAL, ON LINE AND ACTIVE. THE PRINTER IS RUNNING ON PROCESS 6. PRINT FILE BEING OUTPUT IS ELEMENT 1, A CLOSED FILE FOR PROCESS #2 GENERATED ON ACCOUNT JULIE, WHICH IS 4 FRAMES LONG.

ASSIGNED OUTPUT QUEUES: 0.

THE NUMBER OF INTER-JOB PAGES TO EJECT IS 0.

PRINTER # 1 IS SERIAL AND INACTIVE.

THE PRINTER IS RUNNING ON PROCESS 8.

ASSIGNED OUTPUT QUEUES: 2.

THE NUMBER OF INTER-JOB PAGES TO EJECT IS 1.

PRINTER # 5 IS SERIAL AND INACTIVE.

THE PRINTER IS RUNNING ON PROCESS 103.

ASSIGNED OUTPUT QUEUES: 7.

THE NUMBER OF INTER-JOB PAGES TO EJECT IS 1.
