T-ONLINE Command

The T-ONLINE command resets the cartridge tape drive, checks that a tape cartridge has been inserted, and rewinds the tape.

Format

T-ONLINE

Description

If the tape unit has been selected, T-ONLINE attaches the tape unit to your current process, resets the tape drive, determines that a tape has been inserted into it, and rewinds the tape. Since T-ONLINE attaches the tape drive, the T-ATT command need not be used.

NOTE

You should issue a T-ONLINE whenever you insert new backup media into a backup device or logical tape unit.

  1. If a tape has not been inserted, T-ONLINE attaches the tape unit (if selected) and the following message displays:

  2. DEVICE ATTACHED BLOCK SIZE: 16896

    DEVICE NOT READY

    CONTINUE/QUIT (C/Q)?

  3. Insert a tape cartridge in the drive. Type C at the prompt. To quit, type Q.
