SET-TAPEFILE Command

The SET-TAPEFILE command adds a transient virtual tape file to mvBase. The virtual tape file assigned via the SET-TAPEFILE command does not display in the mvBase Administration Utility (Tapes tab). The transient assignment disappears upon system shutdown and restart.

Format

SET-TAPEFILE <path>

Parameter(s)

path

A valid Windows path on the host operating system. The path may be any Windows directory or file name path without requiring surrounding quotation marks. For example:

SET-TAPEFILE C:\ORDER ENTRY\ LOS ANGELES

Description

Perform these steps to add an mvBase tape unit with the SET-TAPEFILE command:

  1. Log to the SYSPROG account.

  2. Execute T-SELECT Vn to select the tape device number (n).

  3. Execute the SET-TAPEFILE <path> command line.

  4. The tape file is now ready for use as an mvBase tape unit until the system is shut down. Commands such as T-ONLINE, T-DUMP, ACCOUNT-RESTORE, FILE-SAVE, etc., function in customary fashion.
