MODEM-ON/MODEM-OFF Command

MODEM-ON and MODEM-OFF enable and disable (respectively) DTR flow control, which makes it possible to start and stop data transmission between the system and peripheral devices. These commands have been superseded by the PROTOCOL command.

Format

MODEM-ON [line]

MODEM-OFF [line]

Parameter(s)

line

Number of the line whose DTR protocol is being enabled or disabled.

Description

When the MODEM-ON command is entered from the SYSPROG account, the DTR protocol is enabled for the specified line. If no line is specified, DTR is enabled or disabled for the line your current process is linked to. Each time the DTR signal goes high, data can be transmitted; each time the signal goes low, data transmission stops.
