CONSOLE-ON CONSOLE-0FF Command

The CONSOLE-ON command assigns the system console to any process. Use CONSOLE-OFF to disable this feature.

Highlights the timestamp of messages directed to the system console. This option helps to distinguish system console messages from normal activity.

Description

The administrator can use the CONSOLE-ON command to display alert messages at a terminal other than the one that is normally the system console. A printer can also be designated as the system console, making it possible to get a hard copy of administrative messages. Only one process can be used as the console at any one time. You can use CONSOLE-ON regardless of whether the system console is logged on or is running any specific program.
