PRINTRONIX Command

The PRINTRONIX command is used with Printronix line printers to set the electronic vertical feed unit (EVFU), or the length of the printer page. The printer must have been started (with STARTPTR) and the correct form queue assigned (with SP-ASSIGN) before PRINTRONIX is entered.

Format

PRINTRONIX n

Parameter(s)

n

Printer page length.

Description

If you do not specify the printer page length with the PRINTRONIX command, the system displays the following prompt:

NUMBER OF LINES?:

To obtain the printer page length, multiply the number of lines per inch by the length of the paper in inches. For example, for a page length of eleven inches at six lines per inch, type 66. After the printer page length has been set, the PRINTRONIX command generates a short output file. Use SP-ASSIGN to assign the correct form queue for printer output from your account, and use STARTPTR to assign the form queue to the correct printer.

Setting Printronix Printer Page Length

The following example starts a Printronix printer as printer 1, assigns form queue 1 to it, then sets its page length to 66:

>STARTPTR 1,1,0,P1

THE PRINTER CONTROL BLOCK HAS BEEN INITIALIZED. HOPEFULLY, THE CORRECT PAPER IS IN THE PRINTER, AND THE CORRECT LPI IS SET.

>SP-ASSIGN F1

>PRINTRONIX 66
