DEFINE-CURSOR Command

The DEFINE-CURSOR command runs the System Cursor Definition Utility, which allows administrators to specify cursor functions for unsupported terminals.

Format

DEFINE-CURSOR

Description

In order for a terminal to work successfully with the mvBase system, it must be defined in the System Cursor Definition Utility. In addition, the terminal definition must be one of those selected for your system. Up to 26 different terminal definitions can be selected at any one time.

The DEFINE-CURSOR command allows you to create your own system cursor definitions for terminals that are not currently defined. Any number of terminals can be added to the list of definitions. You can also change and delete existing cursor definitions. DEFINE-CURSOR is also used to add and remove terminals from the list of selected definitions.

Using DEFINE-CURSOR

When you enter DEFINE-CURSOR, this message appears briefly:

-- PLEASE WAIT -- Reading Terminal Definitions

Then this menu displays:

Menu options 1, 2, and 3 are for creating, changing, or deleting terminal definitions; options 4 and 5 are for selecting or deselecting a terminal for your system. You can also exit this menu by typing EX at the prompt.

To make any changes to the System Cursor Definitions:

  1. Select the appropriate option and respond to the prompts. When you have finished making changes, you are returned to the menu.

  2. To save your changes, type FI at the prompt; the System Cursor Definitions are then updated, and you are returned to the TCL prompt.

  3. To exit the menu without making any changes to the System Cursor Definitions, type EX at the prompt.
