The :SHUTDOWN Proc shuts down the system before rebooting or turning off the power.

Description
The :SHUTDOWN Proc deletes all printers, prevents users from logging on, and flushes all write-required frames in memory to disk.
NOTE |
All users should be logged off and all printers should be inactive before you use :SHUTDOWN. Also note that a :SHUTDOWN on an active system can result in data inconsistencies between files. |
When the :SHUTDOWN Proc is used these messages display:

Type P to shutdown the system. After the disk light goes out, wait at least 10 seconds, then turn the computer's power off.

Always run the :SHUTDOWN procedure before you turn the system’s power off. If you turn the power off without properly shutting down the system, some data will be lost and you may damage the operating system and the database. |
