The term certified means our Quality Assurance Department and beta sites have conducted rigorous testing of all supported features in a given environment, and have verified proper functionality. Non-certified environments cannot be supported and therefore should not be installed in end-user environments.
A warning will display when attempting to install D3 Windows on a version of Windows that is not certified.
As a server over Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista with Service Pack 2, Windows 2003 Standard and Enterprise editions with Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2008 & 2012, and Windows 7 & Windows 8 Pro.
As a client over Windows Server 2003, 2008 & 2012, XP Professional, Vista, and Windows 7 & Windows 8 Pro.
CAUTION |
All servers on the network, whether D3 Windows server or D3 Windows client is installed, MUST be running identical Microsoft Service Packs and/or identical Microsoft patches. Certain Microsoft Service Packs/patches that fix security issues with RPC buffer overruns can interrupt communications from FSI to FSI if one system has a Service Pack/patch and the other system does not. |
NOTE |
For Windows Vista , Windows Server 2008 & 2012 and Windows 7 & Windows 8 Pro implementations, D3 does not interact with the Windows desktop. For example, the D3 boot sequence does not display on the screen when the D3 service starts and doing a !notepad does not work due to Microsoft security changes. |
D3 Windows is not supported on any Starter or Home edition of Windows or on the base version of Windows 8.
D3 Windows requires that you have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or higher installed on your system. For Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8, it is included in the .NET Framework 3.5 feature.
