D3 Windows 10.2 is certified on the Windows releases detailed in the Installation Guide under the topic Software Requirements. For Service Pack certifications, see the Rocket Web site at: http://www.rocketsoftware.com ************************************************************************ CONTENTS NEW FEATURE ABOUT D3 WINDOWS 10.2 SERVICE PACK 2 INSTALLATION INSTALLATION PROCESS UNINSTALLATION PROCESS TROUBLESHOOTING PROCESS Visual C++ 2010 SP1 ************************************************************************ NEW FEATURE As part of enhancing the nt_list-ilocks command to allow specifying a PIB and/or a file name, the output produced has been changed. The two spaces between the Lvl and Type columns has been changed to be a single space. This means that the Item-id column now starts one column to the left and the Token column starts one column to the right. ************************************************************************ ABOUT D3 WINDOWS 10.2 SERVICE PACK 2 INSTALLATION Features that are not installed in the full version of D3 will not be installed by the Service Pack. When installing D3 Windows 10.2 Service Pack 2, a folder called OldVersion is created. This folder contains the files previously installed in the D3Programs and Documentation folders. During the installation, files in the D3Programs folder are overwritten by the files on the Service Pack after being backed up. If the installation aborts, the files in the OldVersion folder are automatically copied back to the D3Programs and Documentation folders. NOTE: The system must be activated before installation can be completed. ************************************************************************ INSTALLATION PROCESS Server Installation: To install the downloaded version of the Service Pack for the Server: 1. Shut down D3. 2. Go to: https://my.rocketsoftware.com/RocketCommunity/RCLanding and log in. 3. Click Downloads, and then select Rocket D3 from the SELECT A CATEGORY list. 4. Find the D3 Windows 10.2.2 download in the ROCKET D3 list on the right, and then click the corresponding link to download the D3 10.2 Service Pack 2 Server file: 1022S.exe 5. Double-click 1022S.exe to run Setup. NOTE: S = D3 Windows 10.2 Server and C = D3 Windows 10.2 Client. 6. Read the License Agreement, select the I accept option, then click Next. 7. Click Install. After the files are transferred, a message indicating that you must activate the system displays. 8. Click OK, then OK again to verify that a new activation is required. The D3 Windows 10.2 Activation dialog box displays. These instructions illustrate a manual activation. To perform the automated activation, select the Automatic tab, enter your System ID and Email Address in the appropriate text-boxes, and then click Activate. The activation will then be performed automatically. NOTE: If performing a manual activation, prior to performing step 8 below, please contact Rocket Customer Service to obtain your activation codes. 9. Type your Activation codes in the appropriate text boxes. 10. Click Activate, then click Finish. Your system is activated. The installation continues. 11. Click Finish once the installation program is complete. Click Exit if the D3 Windows 10.2 Service Pack Installation dialog displays on the screen. 12. Do the following to complete the Service Pack installation for the D3 Server: A. Start a Telnet session to D3. CAUTION: At least 64 MB of overflow must be available. B. Press any key to get to the logon prompt. C. Log on to the dm account as the user dm. D. Type at TCL: copy dos:. nt_upgrade (o to :(md nt_upgrade In order to complete this upgrade, all other D3 processes must be logged off. Press 'c' to continue with the upgrade, or any other key to stop: E. Type: c Insert Data Files #1 and press 'c' F. Type: c Do you wish to re-run SYSTEM-COLDSTART now (Y/N=default) ? G. Enter Y to re-run SYSTEM-COLDSTART or N to skip this step and continue. When the logon prompt displays, the Service Pack installation is complete. ******************************************************************* Client Installation: To install the downloaded version of the Service Pack for the Client: 1. Exit all RPC applications. 2. Go to: https://my.rocketsoftware.com/RocketCommunity/RCLanding and log in. 3. Click Downloads, and then select Rocket D3 from the SELECT A CATEGORY list. 4. Find the D3 Windows 10.2.2 download in the ROCKET D3 list on the right, and then click the corresponding link to download the D3 10.2 Windows Service Pack 2 Client file: 1022C.exe 5. Double-click 1022C.exe to run Setup. NOTE: S = D3 Windows 10.2 Server and C = D3 Windows 10.2 Client. ************************************************************************ UNINSTALLATION PROCESS To uninstall the latest version of the Service Pack: NOTE: These instructions may differ slightly depending on which version of Windows you are running. 1. Do one of the following: - Shut down D3 if uninstalling the Service Pack for the D3 Windows 10.2 Server. - Exit all RPC applications if uninstalling the Service Pack for the D3 Windows 10.2 Client. 2. Select Programs and Features from the Control Panel. 3. Select D3 10.2 Service Pack. 4. Click Change, and then respond accordingly to the prompts to uninstall the service pack. When the process completes, the D3 Windows 10.2 Service Pack 2 is successfully removed. 5. Log on to the dm account as the user dm. 6. Type at TCL: SET-DEVICE 1 7. NOTE: The uninstallation process restores the previous installed version of the D3 (that is, the previous Service Pack if any or the full version). ************************************************************************ TROUBLESHOOTING PROCESS ERROR: Unable to save the program files. Displays when the system is unable to back up the existing program files. Possible causes: o Files in the D3Programs folder are read-only. o Not enough memory to complete the process. o Not enough disk space. Solutions: o Make the program files writeable. o Close running applications to free memory. o Delete some files to free disk space. O Run the Setup again. ERROR: Unable to restore the earlier version of the program files. Occurs during the uninstallation when the Setup failed to restore the backup files to the D3Programs folder. Solution: When the Setup is complete, copy the contents using Windows Explorer: Z:\Program Files\RocketSoftware\D3\OldVersion\D3Programs to: Z:\Program Files\RocketSoftware\D3\D3Programs where Z is the device or drive. ERROR: Unable to start the D3VME. VME hangs after displaying "Activating Processes....." or displays "too many users" occurs if system has not been activated. Solution: Stop or shut down the D3VME. Activate the system, then start the D3VME. ************************************************************************ Visual C++ 2010 SP1 If your version of Windows requires that Visual C++ 2010 SP1 be loaded, your system may require a restart after loading Visual C++. In some cases, your system may restart automatically.
