UNIX Installation

Linux must be installed on the system prior to installing D3.

The Linux installation process is explained in the product documentation for your Linux distribution.

When the Linux installation is complete, a final reboot is required to load all packages. The system is now a full Linux installation, ready for the D3 installation.

Back Up the Target Machine

The target machine is the machine on which D3 Linux runs.

Hard Drive Preparation

Partitions

NOTE

When the hard disk is greater than 8 GB, an older BIOS may not pass on accurate information to the operating system. This may limit the available space of this drive to 8 GB.

When partitioning the hard disk, be advised that D3 uses raw disk partitions to store data.

Set up the hard disk with one or more partitions with no file system created on them for D3.
