Backing up the target machine

Review these backup instructions if a previous version of D3 has been loaded on your system.

About this task

The target machine is the machine on which D3 Linux runs.

If your system already contains a prior release of Advanced Pick or D3, go to Upgrade issues.
If a previous version of D3 has been loaded on your system, complete these instructions.

Procedure

Ensure that there is at least one complete file-save of the system (preferably two) prior to starting this procedure.
Verify the save tape with the t-verify command.
Ensure all Linux data is backed up prior to proceeding with the upgrade.
If no previous version of D3 has been loaded on this system, proceed to Hard drive preparation.
