Using D3 memory

This section provides information about the amount of physical and shared memory used by D3, and offers suggestions on how to optimize the system memory.

  1. Physical memory usage
    Although UNIX and D3 are virtual machines, they can run using a small amount of physical memory. The use of physical memory affects system performance. System performance can be considerably improved by increasing the amount of physical memory, so the processes do not frequently swap out to disk, a condition known as thrashing.
