Restoring the dm files

Customized files which reside in the dm account must be restored in order to retain certain tailored system characteristics.

The following instructions for restoring customized files are generic. The actual messages that display differ from installation to installation, so the message dialogue is omitted. These instructions describe the method of restoring the most common files. Proceed with this process only if you are familiar with the content of these data files and are certain that part or all of the content of the default files can be overwritten.

Use this procedure to restore the:

users file for user-IDs (dm,users,).
tcl-stack file for users’ TCL stacks (dm,tcl-stack,).
devices file for terminal or printer devices (dm,devices,).
OSFI host definitions file (dm,hosts,).

Procedure

Insert the file-save tape.

Enter:

set-device device.number

To restore the user-coldstart macro item for custom startup routines, enter:

To restore without overwriting the bp file for any custom programs in the dm,bp, file, enter:
