The D3 installation can be completed faster when you follow the guidelines specified in Preparing for installation.

The steps below summarize the procedure for installing D3. For detailed instructions on how to perform each step, see Installing D3. Depending on the type of installation, some steps may not apply.

Step Section Description
1 Loading the D3 package Installation process transfers the installation files from the distribution media to the system and runs the setup program.
2 D3 installation types Review and make modifications to the default values in the configuration file generated by the D3 installation script.
3 Installing D3 with the chosen settings D3 package loaded in step one and configured in step two is now installed.
4 Starting the D3 virtual machine The virtual machine is started, and the ABS and data files are loaded.
5 Restarting the virtual machine During the installation process, various drivers are installed. When the virtual machine is restarted, these drivers are initialized during the process.
6 How to proceed At this time, you are instructed how to proceed.
  • If the installation was successful, activate the software.

  • If the installation was not successful, proceed to troubleshoot the installation.

  • If you are upgrading or migrating to D3 Linux from another D3 platform, an Advanced Pick or R83 system, or another Pick compatible environment, proceed to Upgrading with a file-save tape .

  • If you are upgrading without performing a full file restore, proceed to Upgrading with data files in place .
